Leasing Scheme

Barnsley Council have partnered up with Target Housing in order to proactively bring properties back into use through supporting the Council’s housing need. Our leasing scheme enables landlords, the Council and Target Housing to work together to provide affordable homes in the borough for local people in housing need.

In a time of changing legislation our leasing scheme provides landlords with peace of mind and a stress-free experience. Our dedicated and experienced team of officers will take on responsibility for managing the tenancy whilst you relax with the assurance of a guaranteed income. There are no hidden charges and no management fees for the service we provide.

When you let us manage your property we commit to?

  • No sign-up fees, legal costs, or management fees
  • Guaranteed rental income
  • No rent arrears or void periods
  • 3 to 5-year leases
  • Professional management of the property and tenants
  • Return your property vacant and in the same condition (except for fair wear and tear)

Repairs

  • Any tenant damage is covered as part of the lease agreement

What properties are suitable for the scheme and what do I need to provide?

  • Our greatest demand is for one and two-bedroom properties; however, we will consider any size property in the borough. The properties must be self-contained and unfurnished.
  • There are some areas of the borough which are in lower demand so this may affect the decision to proceed

You will need to provide us with the following to enable us to proceed.

  • Certificates - valid Gas Safety certificate, Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) and Electrical Safety Certificate
  • Mortgage consent - if your property has a mortgage outstanding on it you must inform your lender that you wish to lease the property and obtain their permission before you can lease your property
  • Buildings insurance
